Applications of Drone Technology Discussed

With the advancement of technology, drones have become widely used across many fields, particularly in sectors such as cinema, advertising, media, and mapping, where they serve as an important production tool. This growing usage has also increased the demand for qualified drone pilots. Within the scope of the workshop, students were informed about the current applications of drone technology, developments in the industry, and career opportunities in this field.

Course Included in the University Curriculum Introduced

Students were also introduced to the course titled “Drone ile Görüntüleme” which was added to the curriculum of the Department of Visual Communication Design at Istanbul Gelisim University two years ago. Offered as an elective, the course provides both theoretical and practical training, covering a comprehensive range of topics from the fundamental principles of drone usage to advanced filming techniques. It was emphasized that the course not only enhances students’ technical skills but also contributes to their creative production processes.

Hands-on Training and Demo Flights Conducted

In addition to university-level education, applied workshop activities are organized throughout the year for high school students. In this context, participants were provided with fundamental knowledge on drone flight preparation, technical and safety considerations, and civil aviation regulations. During the workshop, students had the opportunity to gain practical experience through demo flights.

Strengthening Inter-Institutional Collaboration

Within the framework of a cooperation protocol with the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, it is aimed to strengthen inter-institutional communication and to expand such educational activities to broader audiences. The workshop is expected not only to increase students’ interest in emerging technologies but also to contribute to identifying talented individuals at an early age and guiding them toward related fields in their future university education.
