Asst. Prof. Ceren İren participated in an artist residency program in Vienna!

Asst. Prof. Ceren İren, a faculty member of the Visual Communication Design Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), participated in an artist residency program held within the international art scene. Invited by Flow Zone, İren took part in the “Flora: Aesthetics of Life and Women’s Ecosystem” Artist-in-Residence program held in Vienna, the capital of Austria, where she continued her artistic production and research activities throughout the program.

An international art program in Vienna

Held in Vienna between August 15 and 30, the program brought together artists with different production practices around a common theme. The residency program, titled “Flora: Aesthetics of Life and Women’s Ecosystem,” provided a space for the development of diverse artistic approaches through the aesthetic dimensions of life and ecosystems created by women.

The program aimed to enable artists to conduct research in line with the designated themes, continue their production processes, and interact with other artists. Asst. Prof. Ceren İren also became part of an international artistic environment by engaging in artistic research and production throughout the program.

Pop-up exhibition met with art lovers

One of the first events of the residency program, the pop-up exhibition, opened to art lovers in Vienna on August 21. The exhibition provided an opportunity for works emerging from the artists’ production processes during the program to meet with audiences.

In addition to the pop-up exhibition, a main exhibition bringing together the artists’ works in a more comprehensive format was planned as part of the continuation of the program. The main exhibition, featuring works produced throughout the residency process, is planned to meet audiences simultaneously at three different art venues in Vienna on November 25.

Artistic production and academic studies come together

Asst. Prof. Ceren İren’s participation in an international Artist-in-Residence program stands out as a development that also supports the Visual Communication Design Department’s approach of bringing together art, design, and academic production. Artist residencies provide artists with opportunities to conduct research and produce work in different cultural environments, develop new methods, and interact with international art communities.

Visual Communication Design Department supports international productions

The Visual Communication Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University continues to support its faculty members in pursuing their artistic and design-based productions on national and international platforms, alongside their academic studies. The participation of department faculty members in various art events, exhibitions, and international organizations is also important in enabling students to closely follow contemporary art and design environments.

As the Visual Communication Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University, we congratulate our faculty member Asst. Prof. Ceren İren on her participation and artistic productions within the international art scene and wish her continued success in her work.
