“With the Istanbul Gelisim University Summer Space School program, we had the opportunity to meet with high school students and future university candidates by giving a course on cinema and space. The name of our lesson is Future Now: Teleporting to the Future with Cinema. With the fact that motion pictures are also document films of their era, we examined the films on the theme of space. In the content of this enjoyable and at the same time interesting lesson, we examined many films such as Travel to the Moon, Metropolis, Superman, Star Trek, Star Wars, Avatar, Gravity, Interstellar, Martian, starting from the first films in the history of cinema, through space and science fiction elements. We observed the point of view from the past to the present and the point of view from the present to the future through the films as of the period when the films were shot. We have also evaluated the perspective of our young people towards space and the future.”

The training with intense participation was broadcast live in an interactive way with the students. The Summer Space School program, which allows high school students to get to know both the university and the departments and fields in particular, ended on July 14.
