The '17:30-19:40' mini-exhibition featuring works produced by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Graduate Education Institute (LEE), and Visual Communication Design graduate students, is hosted by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan. It met with art lovers at Rüzgârgülü Kitap Cafe in Kadıköy on March 23-24.
The exhibition, which consists of six works produced within the scope of the Visual Communication Design Project I course, post-modern and experimental works that combine visual image and writing on a concept axis determined by Elif Konuk Durak, Muhammet Iş, Pınar Şahin, Işıl Gündoğdu, Nagihan Yıldız, and Selin Mamahatun took place.
Işıl Gündoğdu, one of the students whose works were included in the exhibition, shared her views on the process:
“As part of Emre Doğan's Project Workshop course; Our photography exhibition “between 17:30-19:40”, where we came up with ideas suitable for our chosen concepts by brainstorming in each lesson and completing our photography works, took place. Together with the happiness brought by the good interest in everything that is worked on, we have accumulated beautiful memories that will remain in the memories. In our exhibition, which we completed with great effort; We had a pleasant exhibition process by explaining our problems to the people who came to see our works, explaining what purpose or how necessary the purpose is. I would like to thank Emre Doğan and every good idea we shared while developing our projects.”
Muhammet Işın, one of the students whose works were included in the exhibition, shared his views on the process:
“In the Wind Rose cafe, located on Halitağa Street, one of the busiest streets of Kadıköy, we found attractive areas to exhibit our projects. Since the owner and staff of the venue are art-loving people, they helped us with the placement of our projects. To be honest, since this was my first painting exhibition, I had a complex feeling, like being liked or not liked… The name of the project I prepared was Çini'sel. I tried to establish tile-poetry bonds by trying to describe the tile paintings I took with poems. Throughout the entire exhibition, a very positive atmosphere with good energy was created with our friends, our teacher, the cafe staff, and the visitors. Thank you to my teacher Emre and everyone who made our exhibition nice with their presence.”
Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan expressed his thoughts on the exhibition as follows:
“Our mini-exhibition 'Between 17:30-19:40', named after the time of the Visual Communication Design Project I class, opened on 23 March at the Windmill Book Cafe in Kadıköy. Each of the works in the exhibition is project work produced by my students within the scope of the course. In their work for the exhibition, my students acquired a concept and extracted eight different projections of these concepts. From these projections, they created post-modern texts using photography. Nagihan Yıldız chose the concept of "wing", Pınar Şahin the concept of "distance", Muhammet İş the concept of "tile", Işıl Gündoğdu the concept of "spoon", Selin Mamahatun the concept of "rose" and Elif Konuk Durak the concept of "hand" and carried out their work. We received very good feedback about the exhibition, which motivated us to further work. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the exhibition and gave their support to us.”
We congratulate asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan and his students wish him continued work.
