Organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Fine Arts Faculty (FAF) Radio, Television, and Cinema Department, the “Short And…” event series begins. The aim of the activity series named “Short And…” is to enable students to comprehend the production processes of the short film, the layered emotion and thought set up in the short films, the financing of the short film, the effect of the comedy tradition in our country on short films, and the outputs of the short film-academic knowledge relationship. It is aimed to support students to enter the world of short films through the networks of short film directors they will meet through the event.
The event, which will be held every Tuesday throughout December, will host directors who have achieved success with their short films. The event will proceed on a different theme each week, namely "Short and Thoughtful", "Short and Funny", "Short and Cheap", and "Short and Academic".
The event, which will be held for the first time on December 7, 2021, will host directors who deal with very abstract subjects with their films and build the layered emotional and situational setups that we are accustomed to seeing in feature films, in their short films, under the title of "Short and Thoughtful". At the beginning of the event, a short film by both directors will be watched and the conversation will begin.
In the second event of “Short And...” titled “Short and Funny” to be held on December 14, directors who contributed to the comedy tradition in our country with their short films will be hosted, and a conversation will be held on the relationship between short film and comedy.
In the third event of "Short And..." titled "Short and Cheap" to be held on December 21, directors who have made successful films with extremely low budgets will be hosted, and the directors will be interviewed about the financing of the short film.
In the last event of “Short And...” named “Short and Academic” to be held on December 28, directors who continue to direct short films while gaining academic knowledge will be hosted and the relationship between short film and academic knowledge will be discussed.
The event is open to the participation of university students. All students are invited to the events that will take place at the Faculty of Fine Arts TUSI Conference Hall.
