Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı Attended Blackmagic Design Summer Tour Workshop

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Radio, Television and Cinema Department Research Assistant Okan Kırbacı attended the Blackmagic Design Summer Tour workshop event held in partnership with Blackmagic Design and MediaCast.

Within the scope of the event held at Dedeman Hotel Gayrettepe on June 29-30, five different workshops were held under the titles of "Live Production Cameras" "Digital Filmmaking" "DaVinci Resolve Collaboration" "Live Webcast with ATEM Mini" and "Blackmagic RAW Workflow". In the workshops, Blackmagic Design employees and local partners shared their experiences and current developments in various fields. In addition to the workshops, companies that have an important place in the sector in the field of production also introduced their new products to the users in the stands they opened.

Regarding the event, Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı expressed his views as follows:

“I was delighted to attend the second day of the Blackmagic Design Summer Tour Workshop event. I took part in four workshops within the scope of the event. I can personally say that the workshops "Digital Filmmaking" and "Live Internet Broadcasting with ATEM Mini" excite me more.

The importance of following the technological and practical developments in the sector is obvious. I have/have been working with Blackmagic cameras for about a year. At this event, I had the opportunity to learn and examine Blackmagic's newest product, Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2, from company employees at the "Digital Filmmaking" workshop and the booths. Blackmagic is a company that has continued to grow and create alternatives with consistent and 'economic' steps for nearly 20 years. After 10 years in the Cinema Camera series, I observed that there was no major change in the design philosophy of the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2. It can be said that improvements have been made in line with basic needs, and considering Blackmagic's starting point, it would not be right to expect major structural changes.

Again at this event, I experienced ATEM Mini Extreme ISO Pro, one of Blackmagic's most up-to-date video mixers, at the "Live Web Streaming with ATEM Mini" workshop. Practical products suitable for use in internet television, YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Live broadcasts in today's day when broadcasting is gradually shifting from traditional to digital platforms. While they are not the primary option for independent and small publishers, it offers attractive opportunities for large publishers to create a practical and small director.

I would like to thank Blackmagic Design and the MediCast team for organizing the event. I hope the number of these events will increase even more. It also made me extra happy to see names from the industry and academics at the event.”
