Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Radio, Television, and Cinema Department continued their education through distance education due to the pandemic. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the department will continue its education in a hybrid way, face-to-face and remote, and all applied courses will be taught face-to-face. The lessons, which will be taught during the pandemic conditions, will be held in studios and laboratories suitable for the content of the course. In addition to the lectures, the Stars in Vision interviews, cultural and artistic events organized within the department, and screenings organized by the Cinema Club will be transferred to the hybrid system either face-to-face or remotely.
Head of department asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker shared his thoughts on the face-to-face applied courses and the new term:
“After a long longing, the school opens. The days when we are locked in our homes with the covid epidemic, life almost stops and we try to do everything remotely are coming to an end. At least the epidemic is in a controllable state. The discovery of vaccines that will neutralize the Covid-19 virus and its variants and the rapid increase in vaccination increase this hope.
We have better understood the importance of communication and especially face-to-face communication, our need to come together as social beings. We once again accepted the value of face-to-face work, which is an indispensable part of education.
We are experiencing the joy of doing the education that we continue with distance and online lessons, especially in Fine Arts training, together again. Working together and producing together is very important in art education. I am excitedly preparing for the lessons with my students in the workshops and studios in the classrooms again. So that this enthusiasm and enthusiasm will not be interrupted again, let's continue to live and art education by taking precautions, and overcoming this epidemic with vaccines, masks, and distance.
May the new school year be beneficial, auspicious, and enjoyable to all of us.”
