 Orientation for First Year Students Were Held


After the start of the 2023-2024 academic year, an orientation meeting was held for first-year students of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Radio, Television and Cinema.


The orientation meeting of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, held at Istanbul Gelişim University's pocket cinema, Block J, number 390, started with the opening speech of Department Head Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan. After Emre Doğan's opening speech, Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı took the floor and generally touched upon issues such as directives/regulations related to the university and department, curriculum, courses, exams, absences, steps to be followed in case of possible problems, Erasmus+, and the library. Then, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, Head of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department, included in his speech the activities, workshops, interviews, and club activities planned to be organized on a faculty and department basis. Deputy Heads of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik and Res. Asst. Eda Çekemci introduced themselves. The meeting, in which the class representative election was also held, ended with the students' questions being answered.

“Orientation Meetings Are Important”

Informing the students through a presentation at the orientation meeting, Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı stated that they have been organizing orientation meetings for all first-year students regularly for three years. He also stated that they held an orientation meeting with the internship coordinator's assistant. Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Çipe regarding the summer internship in the spring semester.

Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı stated that, as a department, they attach great importance to orientation meetings that students are informed through these meetings, and that students learn a lot thanks to these meetings. He emphasized the importance of informing first-year students and underlined the need for students who come to an environment different from high school practices to be able to adapt to the new environment. Noting that the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema sees its students as important stakeholders, Kırbacı stated that they want to spend an active, productive, and enthusiastic period with the students who have a say in the department and undertake many different activities together.
