 Online Orientation for First Year Students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema was Held


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Radio, Television and Cinema Department organized a department orientation for newly enrolled students.


The department orientation planned by the IGU Dean of Students was held on September 22, with the participation of the department academics. It was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker.
 

Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker started his speech by introducing the department to new students and giving basic information about the department. Mentioning the work done in the department and the way the lessons are taught, Paker stated that the students will master every stage of project creation and learn the alphabet of creation in the process. He emphasized that besides applied courses, theory courses on cinema, courses on cinema aesthetics, and film theory are also included in the curriculum. He stated that by bringing together both technical and aesthetic information, the process was completed with at least one short film work in each term for 4 years and 8 terms.
 
Referring to the difference between the department from the departments in other universities, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker pointed to the academic staff, which comes from within the application and is dominated by faculty members who work on the film in the sector. He ended his speech by mentioning opportunities such as a double major program and Erasmus.
 
After the speech of asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker, one of the academicians of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Çipe took the floor. Talking about the course contents, which are carried out both theoretically and practically, Çipe shared his thoughts on the new term.
 
After the speech of its member Ali Kemal Çipe, Res. Asst. Eda Cekemci and Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı informed the students about communication channels. The monitoring of the university and faculty's web page and social media accounts was emphasized.
 
It was mentioned that face-to-face education was introduced in the applied courses on the education to be conducted in the new term and that students were offered two options, face-to-face and remote, in theoretical courses. The importance of complying with mask, distance, vaccination, and hygiene rules was emphasized.
 
After the students' questions were answered, the orientation ended.
