Within the scope of Payas Film Workshop, 35 high school students from Payas Anatolian High School and Nursan Anatolian High School voluntarily participated in the workshop for three days, and a documentary film of the historical Payas Sokullu Mehmet Paşa Complex was shot with the students. The students were divided into three groups as camera assistant, director assistant and acting and had the opportunity to practice in the field.

Research Assistant Okan Kırbacı, one of the lecturers of the Radio, Television and Cinema department, who is in the technical team of the workshop, and the project consultant of the Payas Film Workshop, Prof. Dr. Nail Öztaş, the project coordinators, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Güzin Ilıcak Aydınalp, Head of Communication and Design Department Assoc. Dr. Nagihan Çakar thanked Bikiç and Payas Municipality and expressed his views on the workshop as follows:

“After Nusaybin and Şanlıurfa, we held our third film workshop in Payas. I think that the workshop and documentary work we carried out in cooperation with Payas Municipality is beneficial and valuable for everyone.

We provided cinema training to 35 students in the workshop. After the training, we divided the students into groups according to their interests and they helped us during the shoot. All of them were interested and enthusiastic students. I gave basic photography lessons to the students within the scope of the workshop, we made applications. Their interest, desire and experience gained here; It increased our motivation as an instructor and workshop attendant. From the beginning to the end, the workshop was a lot of fun for everyone. Another valuable aspect of the workshop for students is that they took part in a documentary set and worked for the first time; It's an unforgettable experience for them.

Compared to other workshops and documentaries, we worked in a larger area in Payas, the historical Sokullu Mehmet Pasha Kulliye. The shooting was very productive, I think that when we complete the film, a good job will emerge and the work will contribute positively to the promotion of Payas."

We would like to thank Research Assistant Okan Kırbacı for his valuable comments.
