 "Cinema of Violence", whose authors include RTS Department Academicians, has been published!


The book "Cinema of Violence", whose authors include Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Çipe and Res. Asst. Eda Türkay from Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, has been published.


"Cinema of Violence", a book, featuring articles by academics asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Çipe and Res. Asst. Eda Türkay from the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, has been published by Akademisyen Kitabevi. The book, edited by Aziz Tamar Güler, includes six chapters prepared by six different academics. In her article titled "Reflections of Violence in Cinema and Mimetic Crisis: The Example of Dogman", Res. Asst. Eda Türkay discusses the media's influence on the increasing prevalence of violence in daily life, the contagious effect of violence, the discourse crisis in violent narratives, and the conditions under which mythical violence and mimetic crisis arise. She conducts her analysis using the 2018 film Dogman as a case study.

In his article titled "Representation of Violence in Films and the Quest for Identity through Symbolic Subtexts: Analysis of the Film Zift", Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Kemal Çipe focuses on the first film of Bulgarian director Javor Gardev, Zift. Çipe examines the character development, screenplay structure, and visual references of the film, categorizing it as an example of a noir film. In his analysis of Zift, Çipe delves into how the character's journey in the film transforms through violence and in what ways.
