Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Department of Radio, Television and Cinema asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar continues to shoot video series with artists. Former painter and academician Prof. Dr. Erol Yıldır, Prof. Dr. İsmet Çavuşoğlu and performing a video series titled "Painters Tell" with asst. Prof. Dr Nuri Sezer, Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar features a calligraphy artist and academician Dr. Instructor It hosted its member Serdar Kipdemir.
In the interview shot after the Serdar Kipdemir Calligraphy Exhibition opened at Gelişim Art Gallery under the curatorship of asst. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer. Third-year students from the Radio, Television, and Cinema department accompanied its member Radife Akyıldız Ongar during the shootings. Asst. Prof. Dr. Nuri Sezer asked questions to Serdar Kipdemir. Kipdemir talked about his life, how he started his artistic career and the intricacies, and problems of calligraphy. Stating that he wanted the art of calligraphy to attract more attention and not be forgotten, Kipdemir underlined that calligraphy departments should be opened in universities.
Director Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar expressed her thoughts on the exhibition and the shooting process:
“The calligraphy artist Serdar Kipdemir, who has spent many years in the art of calligraphy in Turkey, exhibited original examples of the art of calligraphy at Gelişim Art Gallery. We also wanted to film the forgotten art of calligraphy as a biography-documentary. Serdar Kipdemir conveyed his knowledge of the art of calligraphy. We thank Serdar Kipdemir for sharing this vanishing art with us in this documentary film.”
