Apart International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium Was Held!
The Apart International Short Film, Video, and Photography Symposium is supported by the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) and led by the Department Chair of Radio, Television, and Cinema, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan took place from October 19th to 21st at the Barış Manço Cultural Center.
The symposium, which started on October 19 with the opening speech of Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, ended on October 21 after a busy three-day program.
“Short film, video, and photography are areas that academics, artists, and art lovers have tried to focus on on various philosophical axes in recent years. These fields, which have a wide range of meaning and potential for the production of speculative and even provocative ideas, are the last forms of production that can be worked without industrial 'necessary and sufficient conditions' and are unfortunately the last remaining forms of production. “Thinking about these fields and modes of production is one of the most nourishing and enlightening opportunities for understanding and thinking.” The symposium, which set out with its message and purpose, was held with the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
A Collaborative and Selfless Work
Radio, Television, and Cinema Department Research Assistants Eda Çekemci and Okan Kırbacı also made their presentations at the symposium. Res. Asst. Eda Çekemci, “Inspired by the Uses and Gratifications Theory: Why Do We Watch Short Films?” Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı presented his paper titled "An Asexual Representation in Short Film: It's Not You. It's Not Me.".
The symposium, in which the students of the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department took part in the editing, photography, video, and organization teams, was completed successfully as a result of joint and devoted work.
We congratulate Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, Res. Asst. Eda Çekemci and Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı, who presented their papers, and all the students of the department who contributed to the symposium, and wish them continued success.
