Interview titled No Barriers in Art, organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF) Radio, Television and Cinema Department. It was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker, with the participation of the President of the No Barriers in Art Association and painter Yasemin Gülderen Zanbak.
In the conversation, Yasemin Gülderen Zanbak's identity as a painter and the works and plans of the Association for No Barriers in Art, of which she is the president, were discussed. Explaining how he met painting and how painting played a role in his life, Zanbak stated that he had been involved with painting since childhood, had to stay away from work for a while, but then returned to painting to realize his dreams and has been actively painting for twenty years.
Talking about the repetitive female figures in his paintings and the series of Ottoman female sultans he painted, Zanbak stated that his paintings are exhibited in important places in Istanbul.
Emphasizing the work of Yasemin Gülderen Zanbak to reach all segments of society, art and artists, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker stated that the activities of the No Barriers in Art Association and the access of individuals with disabilities to art education stand in a very valuable place.
Yasemin Gülderen Zanbak, who conveyed how the idea of the association developed and how the practices started, stated that although the association was opened during the pandemic period, they encountered intense interest and support. He stated that there are sociologists, psychologists and language therapists in the association and that it has an education and training approach focused not only on artistic but also on personal development.
Zanbak, who thinks about what he can gain materially and spiritually throughout his life, and states that he attaches great importance to this, stated that he develops new projects for other segments of the society.
Zanbak, who emphasized the importance of solidarity in such projects when Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker talked about the interest of our university students in social responsibility projects, stated that it would be happy to work with students and produce projects in the future.
