The 3rd "Symposium on Modern Interiors in Turkey" was organized under the guidance of docomomo_tr and held at TED University on June 10-11, 2024. Many researchers specializing in the field had the opportunity to present their studies focusing on interiors and modernist discourse at the symposium. A part of the text published by the symposium committee, which included references to the content, read as follows:
"Just as in the rest of the world, there are many cases in Turkey that show how the modern movement has shaped public and private interiors and are waiting to be deeply researched. Undoubtedly, every contemporary study that sheds light on our recent history in this field will allow us to further decode the codes of modernist discourse and movement, enriching our cultural memory and passing it on to future generations. At the same time, interiors, with the combination of artistic contributions, offer extraordinary resources for understanding the cultural state of a period and the spirit of an era.
The 3rd Symposium on Modern Interiors in Turkey, organized by the docomomo_tr Interior Committee and hosted by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at TED University Faculty of Architecture and Design on June 10-11, 2024, aims to create an interdisciplinary platform for sharing current research on modern interiors in Turkey."
Res. Asst. Başak Lale presented her paper at the symposium, analyzing the representation of interiors in the past and present within the context of the social, economic, and technological conditions of both periods. Research Assistant Başak Lale expressed her views as follows:
"It was quite exciting for me to be a part of this symposium, the third of its kind, organized under the guidance of docomomo_tr and hosted by TED University’s Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The symposium was very productive for me, as it included valuable academics, both on the organizing committee and among the participating researchers, with whom I had the opportunity to learn since my undergraduate education. I would like to thank my esteemed professors and the symposium organizing committee for their efforts."
We congratulate Res. Asst. Başak Lale and wish her continued success.
