Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Head of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design / Interior Architecture Asst. Prof. Dr. Zerrin Funda Ürük, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaprak Özel and Lecturer Yusuf Taner Gültekin took part in the inter-university workshop titled ‘Life Unit and Emergency Needs Product Design for Refugees and Disaster Victims’ was held at Istanbul Commerce University, where Erkut Özel, Gizem Eşim, Eslem Özbek and Ece Uluçay from our department students participated in the workshop along with our teaching staff.


The axis of living units that can provide solutions to the needs of the survivors in disasters such as floods, fire, drought, epidemics, especially earthquakes, which have parallels in many parameters, as well as the problem of shelter, which is one of the problems caused by the intense refugee traffic in our country in recent years and that refugees have to live with. An inter-university workshop program was determined at Istanbul Ticaret University to examine new ideas.


The conference-workshop event named “Life Unit and Emergency Products Design for Refugees and Disaster Victims” ended with the workshop held on 12-13 April and the exhibition opened on 19 April.
