Gökçe Uzgören shared her thoughts on the lecture and her presentation as follows:
“Although a lot of work has been done on the production of space, we can say that in today's world where information and communication technologies (ICT) are developing rapidly, there has not been enough work in our country on the effect of digital platforms on this production process. In particular, I humbly told the students about the role of digital platforms based on the sharing economy (P2P=peer to peer) business model in the production process of urban space. The place of digital sharing economy platforms, which are both increasing in number and increasing in scale along with this increase, in urban life is becoming more and more noticeable with each passing day. The effects of digital accommodation platforms, which are spreading rapidly in cities, especially in urban tourism, in our cities are quite large. Creating alternatives sensitive to local dynamics in the government-private sector-civil society triangle can be a good way for these platforms, which are often criticized for touristizing local areas and displacing local users. Exchanging ideas with students about the impact of these platforms, which we use in many areas of life such as transportation, accommodation and shopping, on spatial formation, opened my horizons. My esteemed teacher, Dr. Instructor Being a guest of this lecture by its member Melis Oğuz also honored me. Thank you very much for the invitation.”
We congratulate Gökçe Uzgören for this presentation and wish her continued success.
