Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Cansın İlayda Çetin's personal photography exhibition titled “Cosmos” is at Atılım University Cultural and Social Affairs Directorate Exhibition Area between 3-25 January 2022. exhibited and attracted great attention by both students and lecturers.
The manifest of the exhibition is as follows:
“Cosmos Exhibition; It consists of sixteen photographs containing details of the interior and exterior surfaces of the BMW Welt (BMW World) building in Munich, Germany.
When creating the photo; We create a certain integrity by combining all our impressions of the moment we are in, along with keeping up with the environmental conditions, with our current mood. However, since we do not have current thoughts in the subsequent elimination moments, we are directed to the idea of "reflecting the truth" rather than the idea of "reflecting what is inside us". I aimed to present this museum-gallery, which I tried to describe with the language of photography and which affected me, in a dynamic composition with these frames that I created as a result of judgments that I thought were correct. While reducing the three-dimensional space to a two-dimensional plane, I created detail squares considering the volume it has.
Cosmos is not only a cross-section of reality carried into photographs, but also a series that draws attention to the dynamism of architecture. With the dynamism seen in the details and the movement of the parts that make up the whole, the photographs reveal their vitality. The reflection and shadow caused by the existing structure's material and its amorphous structure make it difficult at first glance to form the presented frame in our minds. In this respect, photographs point to objects that are idealized in our mental world rather than to activating our perceptions of reality and to nature and objects that seem objective.
BMW World;
This special building, which draws attention with its futuristic architecture, was created under the leadership of Paul Kath with seventy-one designers of Coop Himmelb(l)au Firm. It aims to offer a floating atmosphere to its visitors with its two cones outside, shiny exterior material and an interior structure made of curvilinear movements that hold the concept and design together. The building was opened on 20 October 2007 and received the best public building award in 2009.”
We congratulate Cansın İlayda Çetin and wish her continued success.
