Cansın İlayda Çetin participated in the 98th Anniversary of the Republic Exhibition organized by Port Art with her photographic work.
Cansın İlayda Çetin, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Faculty of Fine Arts, Istanbul Gelişim University, participated in the 98th Anniversary of the Republic Exhibition organized by Port Art with her photographic work. Participation in the exhibition, which was opened at the Portakal Çiçeği Residence in Ankara's Çankaya district on October 29, 2021, was intense. The 98th Anniversary of the Republic was celebrated with enthusiasm with the exhibition where various works of art in all branches of art were exhibited and various musical events took place.
Cansın İlayda Çetin, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at IGU GSF, shared the work she participated in the exhibition and her feelings and thoughts about the exhibition as follows:
“4th Republic Exhibition on October 29, 2021; It is a group exhibition that takes place within the Orange Blossom Art Colony. It was opened with enthusiasm by celebrating the 98th anniversary of our Republic with various events in the exhibition halls located on the various floors of the Portakal Çiçeği Residence. I have also participated with a photographic work that I created from the interior details of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Ankara.
The CSO structure is very important for Ankara and its architectural history. The old building was put into service with a small concert held on 29 October 1961 in honor of the thirty-eighth anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic. For the project of the new CSO building, a competition was held in 1992 and the project designed by architects Özcan and Semra Uygur won the competition. Unfortunately, more than twenty-eight years have passed since the competition, the construction of which has continued with interruptions for twenty-three years, the Presidential Symphony Orchestra's new building, which has aged a lot of government, was opened at the end of 2020. The opening of the building caused as much problems as the interruptions in the intervening period, budget strictures, and the change of priorities, and once again showed everyone that architecture, and therefore the place of architects, is at a level of 'non-existence' in Turkey.
With my photography work, I tried to present a different point of view for this important day than this new work that was brought to Ankara.”
The exhibition can be visited at Portakal Çiçeği Residence until 20 November 2021. Our faculty members and students who could not attend the exhibition can watch the promotional film about the exhibition by clicking here.
We congratulate Cansın İlayda Çetin and wish her continued success.
