The "Advanced Transformation Workshop: Sustainable Products from Recycled Bottles" social responsibility project was conceived with the theme "Touching Glass," aiming to enhance students' understanding of sustainability. Designed under the guidance of Research Assistants Gökçe Uzgören, Merve Karadaban, and Büşra Kılıç, the project, consisting of three stages, collaborated for its second phase with Studio Le Fond, a newly opened workshop in Istanbul focusing on advanced recycling. Studio Le Fond collects waste glass bottles through collaborations with supported restaurants, aiming to recycle them. Their process involves gathering discarded glass bottles, disinfecting them, sending them for cutting and giving them a new life in a form that can be used with delight, all in line with the principles of sustainability and simplicity.
The project aims to raise awareness among students about the transformation of waste. One of the most significant waste materials, glass, is the focal point of informing students about its potential for reuse and encouraging them to envision its possibilities.
In this regard, the project aims to "DISCARD, TRANSFORM!" to reevaluate the environment with an informed consciousness and contribute to the transformation movement through this awareness.
Presentation and Workshop on Advanced Recycling Held at Studio Le Fond
As part of the project, discussions were held with Tuğçe Uzgören Şahin, the founder of Studio Le Fond, to detail the project. In the second phase, a presentation on "Advanced Recycling" was conducted for students at Studio Le Fond's office, showcasing the designs crafted by Studio Le Fond from recycled bottles. Additionally, a workshop on "advanced recycling" from waste materials was organized for students, marking the conclusion of the second phase.
We congratulate all our faculty members and students who contributed to the "Advanced Transformation Workshop: Sustainable Products from Recycled Bottles" social responsibility project.
