 Within the scope of DesignFest'21 Events, a Conversation with Psychologist Serpil Büyükbaş titled "True Digitalization" Was Held


As part of the Design Festival events organized by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), a seminar titled "True Digitalization" was held on May 6, 2021, at 15:30.


Within the scope of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Design Festival event consisting of conversations, workshops, and virtual exhibitions was held on 5-6-7 May. Within the scope of these events, on Thursday, May 6, at 15:30, the moderator of the Communication and Design Department research assistant Büşra Kamacıoğlu; An interview titled "True Digitalization" was held with the students of the Department of Communication and Design, social responsibility project and Psychologist Serpil Büyükbaş.
 
SOZOP team of 7 people, working on digital addiction and consisting of Melek Gülşen, Enes Dalgıç, Melike Söalp, Reşat Uzuner, Hande Pala, Sertaç Büyükbaş and Firdevs Gülşahin, started the conversation by stating their thoughts on the effects of digitalization in our lives. While some students talked about the positive effects of digitalization on our lives, some students talked about the negative effects of digitalization on our lives. It has been emphasized that digital media tools and digital media platforms will benefit if they are used correctly and consciously, otherwise, it brings psychological and physical problems.
 
Who is Serpil Büyükbaş?
 
He graduated from Fevziye Schools Foundation Işık University in 2018. He is currently in the thesis stage in the Clinical Psychology master's program at the same school. Her thesis studies online therapies and therapeutic alliances. She actively sees clients and works with adults under supervision. He provides psychotherapy services voluntarily in various associations. He also carried out joint studies with METU in the academic field and wrote an article on the relationship between smartphone addiction and driver behavior. He presented his related study at the Turkish Psychology Congress.
 
Psychologist Serpil, after her SOZOP team members, discussed the issue in detail and focused on the effects of digital addiction on our lives. He stated that cyberloafing is a common habit of surfing social media arbitrarily or spending free time in front of the screen, which negatively affects daily performance. Ms. Serpil, who talked about the research on digital addiction in detail, also explained the definitions she made with examples. She also mentioned what we can do against addiction and advised all our participants.
 
At the end of the event, the social obligation project team administered an attention test to all participants. The interview ended with the questions from the participants and the answers of Ms. Serpil.
