 The Department of Communication and Design Offers Its Students The Opportunity of a Double Major


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts Department of Communication and Design offers its students the opportunity of a Double Major program. Double major students are not charged any additional tuition for their secondary majors.


Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), 2022-2023 Academic Year, Fall Term, Double Major Applications were made electronically between 20-29 July 2022.Students of the Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) completed their applications from the departments within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences, Istanbul Gelisim Vocational School, School of Physical Education and Sports and Faculty of Fine Arts. At the same time, Faculty of Arts (GSF) Departments accepted applications for Double Major Programs from Faculties of Dentistry, Engineering and Architecture, Health Sciences, in addition to these faculties and vocational schools.

Applications to the Faculty of Fine Arts were mostly made from the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Faculty of Engineering and Architecture
Many students from different faculties and departments applied to the Department of Communication and Design to do double major. Applications were evaluated and applications meeting the double major requirements were accepted. In this context, three students whose applications were accepted had the opportunity to do a double major in the Department of Communication and Design.

The names of the students who are entitled to double major in the Department of Communication and Design are as follows:

For our students who want to apply for a Double Major Programme in the next year, we can summarize the "Things to Know About Double Major Programme" as follows:
  • During the application, the student can choose up to three double major programs. Students are placed in a double major program in order of preference.
  • More than one double major cannot be done at the same time. However, a double major and a minor can be done at the same time.
  • In the admission of students to the double major diploma program that admits students with an aptitude test, the student must also be successful in the aptitude test.
  • The admission process of the students to the double major diploma program is completed with the recommendation of the department/program chair and the decision of the relevant administrative board. The final registration of the students who are accepted to the double major program is made by the student affairs department.
  • A student registered in a double major diploma program can transfer to a double major diploma program when he/she meets the conditions suitable for internal transfer in the major diploma program.
  • The quota of the students who will make a double major program is determined by the university senate, provided that the overall weighted grade point average in the major diploma program is at least 70 out of 100 (2.72/4.00), the success ranking in the relevant class of the major diploma program is not less than 20%.
  • The quotas of the programs that will accept double major students and which major students can apply to the programs are determined by the decision of the Senate, not less than 20% of the starting quota in the relevant class of the programs.
  • The quota of students who will make a double major is determined by the university senate, provided that the overall grade point average in the major diploma program is at least 70 out of 100, and the success rank in the relevant class of the major diploma program is not less than 20%.
  • With the exception of law, medicine and health programs and engineering programs, the quota of programs for double major is determined by the university senate, provided that it is not less than 20% of the quota of the programs.
