As part of the "Women Who Inspire Development Social Responsibility Project" organized by the Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, a trip to Chiharu Shiota's "Between Worlds" exhibition at Istanbul Modern was held on October 30, 2024.

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) has launched the "Women Who Inspire Development Social Responsibility Project" to draw attention to the role of women in society and raise awareness through art. This women-centered project aims to support women's studies and increase social sensitivity in combating violence against women. Conducted by Research Assistants Ayten Bengisu Cansever Bayhan, Eliz Mutlu, and Başak Lale, the project follows a three-phase plan aimed at reaching a broad audience.

Exhibition Visit to Chiharu Shiota's "Between Worlds"

As part of the first phase, a visit was organized on October 30, 2024, to Chiharu Shiota's exhibition "Between Worlds" at Istanbul Modern. Participants from Istanbul Gelisim University included Research Assistants Başak Lale, Eliz Mutlu Tekay, Ayten Bengisu Cansever Bayhan, Ezginaz Kara, Gökçe Uzgören, and Okan Kırbacı. This exhibition tour provided an opportunity for participants to experience the power and significance of women's art through the works of a female artist.

Discussion on Combating Violence Against Women

The second phase of the project will feature a discussion event on November 27, held as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This event will include Zuhal Güreli, a volunteer from Mor Çatı, and aims to inform participants about strategies to combat violence against women and highlight the importance of women's studies.

Final Phase: QR Code-Based Online Exhibition

In the final phase of the project, a QR code-based online exhibition will be placed at various points around Istanbul Gelisim University in December. This exhibition aims to reach a wide audience by allowing participants to share their artistic experiences. Supported by Istanbul Gelisim University, this project seeks to empower women’s place in society and raise awareness about violence against women, leveraging the unifying and impactful power of art.
