How Can I Apply for Erasmus?

Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Department of Communication and Design students have had their questions answered about benefiting from Erasmus opportunities.

The Erasmus+ Program offers students a journey of discovery, allowing them to experience different cultures, gain new perspectives, learn foreign languages, enhance their resumes, develop an international vision, and make friends from diverse backgrounds. It contributes to both their educational and professional lives as well as personal development.

Students can benefit from Erasmus+ Program in two ways: study mobility and internship mobility.

Study Mobility involves completing one or up to two semesters of study at a partner institution abroad that holds an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE). The duration of this activity can range from a minimum of 2 months to a maximum of 12 months within the same academic year.

Internship Mobility allows students to gain professional training or work experience at a partner company or organization in another country. All students have the opportunity to benefit from Erasmus+ Internship Mobility, with internships lasting between 2 and 12 months. Internships should be planned outside the academic terms.

Application Conditions:

For Study Mobility:

  • A minimum GPA of 2.20/4.00 is required.
  • Students must be enrolled in formal education at Istanbul Gelisim University and at least in their 1st year to apply for study or internship mobility. Double Major Program students can only apply from one of their majors.
  • Students are expected to follow a program worth 60 ECTS for a full academic year, 30 ECTS for one semester in a two-semester academic year, or 20 ECTS for one semester in a three-semester academic year.

For Internship Mobility:

  • Students must directly contact the institutions where they wish to intern and obtain signed and stamped acceptance letters. They should then apply to the International Exchange and Cooperation Coordination Office within the announced deadlines.
  • If a student does not have an acceptance letter at the time of application, they will be given a specific period to obtain one if they are eligible for Erasmus+ internship mobility.
  • Final-year students can complete internships within 12 months after graduation.
  • Applications for Erasmus+ internship mobility are accepted for the following academic year.
  • Students must have a language certificate with a minimum score of 60 out of 100 from YÖKDİL, YDS, or equivalent international exams. If they do not have such a certificate, they must take a language exam organized for Erasmus+ students.
