First Lesson in Effective Communication Education!
The "Interpersonal Communication Education", the first phase of the "Effective Communication Education" project organized by the IGU Faculty of Fine Arts and under the project management of Asst. Prof. Aslı Kasar, took place on September 27th, 2022 at the Sabancı Maturation Institute.
The first phase of the “Effective Communication Education” social responsibility project, in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts and Sabancı Maturation Institute operating in Üsküdar district of Istanbul, was held on September 27th, 2022 in order to contribute to the production of the Institute students and support their development. Emphasizing that “Effective Communication Education” has become extremely important for Sabancı Maturation Institute students to announce to the world the output they have produced with the education they receive, and for them to express themselves correctly and realize their future dreams, IGU, Faculty of Fine Arts, Communication and Design Department Head Asst. Prof. Aslı Kasar, said that the project helped to strengthen the communication skills of Sabancı Maturation Institute students.
THE IMPORTANCE OF INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION IS REMEMBERED
Today, with the intense use of social media networks, especially with the effect of the pandemic period, there has been a period when face-to-face personal communication is minimized and individuals are closed to communication. Stating that social media networks are not a form of interpersonal communication, on the contrary, these channels are mass media. Asst. Prof. Aslı Kasar said that she aimed to remind the importance of interpersonal communication with her project.
DRIVEN BY THE SLOGAN "LIFELONG LEARNING"
Johari Window, which is a very important method in interpersonal communication, and its four areas were explained to the participants in the project, which was driven by the slogan of "lifelong learning". Accordingly, while the participants learned about open areas, hidden areas, blind areas, and unknown areas, they also gained awareness about the reflections of these areas on communication processes through examples.
THE SECOND PHASE OF THE PROJECT “FEEDBACK”
In the second phase of the project, it is foreseen to focus on the subject of “Feedback”, which is one of the sine qua non of the effective communication process. Asst. Prof. Aslı Kasar expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed and emphasized her excitement for the upcoming stages, is planned to be held at Sabancı Maturation Institute on October 25th, 2022.
