The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (English Program) at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), hosted graphic designer Metehan Gülbay as part of an event organized for the IAE152 Graphic Expression Techniques course, coordinated by Lect. Serenay İnceoğlu. Aiming to enhance students' digital representation and visual presentation skills, the workshop practically demonstrated how to render architectural plans with professional techniques using Adobe Photoshop.
Throughout the event, Metehan Gülbay shared essential insights with students regarding the fundamental tools used in plan rendering, the logic of layering (layers), color selection criteria, texture application, and methods for establishing a visual hierarchy. The critical points to consider for presenting interior architecture projects in a more comprehensible, aesthetic, and impactful manner were explained in detail through sample case studies.
During the applied workshop segment, students had the opportunity to experience different presentation techniques by rendering their own plan drawings in the Photoshop environment. Consequently, while the importance of digital tools in design communication was demonstrated through concrete examples, the event contributed significantly to developing the students' technical knowledge and visual expression skills.
Organized within the framework of the IGU Faculty of Fine Arts curriculum, this event expanded the students' knowledge base regarding graphic expression techniques and allowed them to gain valuable experience for professional design processes. Istanbul Gelişim University continues to bring its students together with industry professionals and support their vocational development in line with its application-based education philosophy.
