 Lecturer Cansu Sözer presented her paper at the 26th International Utopian Studies Conference held in Romania!


Lecturer Cansu Sözer, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, attended the "26th Annual Conference of the Utopian Studies Society/Europe" held in Bucharest, Romania, and shared her paper addressing more-than-human relations and future perspectives with the international scientific world.


Lecturer Cansu Sözer, one of the faculty members of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, successfully represented our university at the international academic conference titled "26th Annual Conference of the Utopian Studies Society/Europe (The Pasts and Futures of Utopia)" held in Bucharest, Romania, between July 01–04, 2026.

This prestigious event, hosted by the University of Bucharest (Faculty of Sociology and Social Work), was organized in collaboration with the Utopian Studies Society/Europe (USS/E), Academia Europaea Bucharest Hub, Writers' Union of Romania, and Bucharest City Museum.

Looking at the Future Through "More-Than-Human" Relations

Within the scope of the conference, Lecturer Cansu Sözer delivered the presentation of her highly acclaimed paper titled "Micro-Utopian Futures Through More-Than-Human Relations". In the presentation, going beyond the human-centered perspective, the role of relations established with the environment and other living beings in sustainable and alternative future visions (micro-utopias) was opened to discussion.

Attended by researchers and academics from all over the world, the conference addressed the transformation of the concept of utopia from past to present and the social dynamics of the future through an interdisciplinary perspective.
