Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar Presented Her Study on Energy-Efficient HVAC System Selection at DBMC 2026!


Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar, a faculty member of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), presented her study titled “Optimization-Based Screening of HVAC System Selection for Energy-Efficient and Environmentally Responsible Design” at the 17th International Conference on Durability of Building Materials and Components, held in Montreal, Canada.


Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar, a faculty member of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), presented her study titled “Optimization-Based Screening of HVAC System Selection for Energy-Efficient and Environmentally Responsible Design” within the scope of *The 17th International Conference on Durability of Building Materials and Components* (DBMC 2026), held in Montreal, Canada. The study was included in the DBMC 2026 program as a full-text paper presented within the conference.

HVAC System Selection for Energy-Efficient and Environmentally Responsible Design Was Discussed

Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar’s study addresses the selection of HVAC systems in the building design process not merely as a technical decision, but as a strategic design problem in terms of energy efficiency, environmental responsibility, and building performance. The study discusses an optimization-based screening method for evaluating different HVAC system alternatives during the early design phase and identifying energy-efficient solutions.

DBMC 2026’s focus on topics such as climate change, environmental durability, decarbonization, building performance, and emerging building technologies further highlights the relevance of the study within contemporary building research. The scope of the conference includes areas such as the performance of building systems, sustainable materials, low-carbon solutions, energy-efficient renovation strategies, and the reduction of environmental impacts.

Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar also participated in workshops and laboratory visits held as part of DBMC 2026. Throughout the event, she attended presentations delivered by well-known academics, researchers, and industry experts in the field. In this context, she had the opportunity to gain insight into sustainable building technologies, energy systems, environmental performance, building durability, and current research projects. In addition, ongoing innovative projects and laboratory practices were examined, allowing for the evaluation of recent developments in energy-efficient and environmentally responsible building design.

While Asst. Prof. Sanam Aeinfar’s study contributes to sustainable building design, energy-efficient interior systems, and environmental performance-oriented decision-making processes, it also strengthens the international academic visibility of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design.
