Special Movie Screening for the Week of July 15th!

The "Last Meeting" by Nesli Çölgeçen was screened by the Radio, Television, and Cinema Department as part of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day. Faculty academic members and students attended the screening, which was held at the pocket cinema in IGU J Block.
 
July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Held

Celebrated since 2017, July 15, Democracy and National Unity Day, is celebrated every year with democracy watch, and National Unity March, and commemorations, and events are organized for the meaning and importance of the day. A film screening event was prepared by the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema within the scope of commemorations and celebrations organized within the body of Istanbul Gelişim University. The event, where the 2007 movie "Last Meeting" was shown, attracted great attention.

"The Last Meeting", a documentary about the experiences of the veterans of the War of Independence during and after the struggle, narrates the years of struggle in Turkey and reveals that the problems are overcome when there is unity and solidarity against external threats.
The documentary, which sheds light on the last periods of Gazi Ömer Küyük, Gazi Veysel Turan, and Gazi Yakup Satar before their deaths, is also important in terms of first-hand recording the struggle of the War of Independence.

Radio, Television, and Cinema Department Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan and Deputy Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik, Department Research Assistants Eda Çekemci, and Okan Kırbacı took part if took place on 14 July at the pocket cinema. After the screening with the participation of faculty academic members and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan thanked the participants.

15 July Democracy and National Unity Day was remembered with a movie screening and commemorations were held.
