Short and Social Event Was Held!

“Short and ...” is known as an event series organized by the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, where interviews are held specifically for short films. The fifth of the series of events, in which interviews were held under the titles Short and Cheap, Short and Academic, Short and Thoughtful, and Short and Funny, was held online under the title of Short and Social. Öykü Orhan, the director of the movie Paydos, was the guest at the event.

Short and Social: Paydos

Öykü Orhan, who continues her master's degree in cinema at Marmara University and participated in many important festivals with her first short film Paydos, started her speech by saying that she was very happy to have the opportunity to meet with the audience again with her Short and Social event. In the event moderated by Eda Çekemci, the short film Paydos was watched after a short opening. After the screening, Öykü Orhan was asked about the origin of the film by Res. Asst. Eda Çekemci. Expressing that he started to create the story, influenced by a newspaper article, Orhan emphasized that he wanted to write and shoot conscientious stories. Noting that the process of transforming from an idea to a script took two years, Orhan gave information about the shootings. Underlining that the most important thing is to work with a good team, Orhan said that she was very lucky in this sense and that they had an enjoyable set. Stating that the preliminary preparation process is extremely important, Orhan also answered the questions of the participant students. Talking about the post-production process of the film, its distribution to festivals, and the operation of digital platform screenings, Orhan expressed her gratitude to the participants by repeating that he attaches great importance to meeting with the audience and especially the students in such conversations.
