 Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker and Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar Participated in the 21st Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival as a Jury Member


One of the academicians of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Radio, Television and Cinema Department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker and Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar, participated in the 21st Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival as a jury member.


Having been on the festival jury for two years, Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker, Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar being a member of the jury, two academics from the same university and from the same department from Turkey took part in the festival jury for the first time.
 
Among the 30 short films that applied to the Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival, which was held for the 21st time this year, 9 films were selected and made it to the finals. Four films were awarded among the finalists as a result of the decisions of the jury members, who watched the films online and made their selections, and met on the online platforms to share their evaluations.
 
Participating as a member of the jury this year, Asst. Prof. Dr. Radife Akyıldız Ongar emphasized the importance of continuing events and festivals during the pandemic period:

“It is very important that events and festivals related to art and cinema continue in this difficult period we are going through. This year I am pleased to be a jury member at the 21st Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Paker. It was very enjoyable to watch and evaluate the movies. I would like to thank the festival team for making the festival happen. With the end of the pandemic period, I hope to be able to meet face to face, participate in festivals as before, and watch movies side by side."
 
The festival, where films in the categories of feature films, short films and documentary films compete and are screened, will be held in June. At the festival, which was postponed due to the pandemic, awards will be given in the categories of best film, best director, best screenplay, best cinematography, best music, best actress, best actor and audience.
