The EU Human Rights Short Film Competition, which is organized every year by the European Union Delegation to Turkey on the occasion of the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is being held for the 12th time this year. This year, 170 applications were made to the competition, which is open to all projects that convey their thoughts on the irrefutable and inalienable human rights defined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights through a film. Absolute Zero was one of the 5 finalist films selected from among 170 applications. The 10 films to be selected for the Human Rights category in the competition, 5 for the Gender Equality category, 5 for the Climate Change and 5 for the Youth Rights will be evaluated by the final jury and the winners will be determined. The results of the competition, in which Absolute Zero will compete in the climate change category, are expected to be announced at the award ceremony to be held on December 9.

Focuses on Environmental Issues

Written by Umut Sevinç and directed by Gözde Uysal Akca, the movie "Absolute Zero" takes place in a universe where environmental problems are actively felt in daily life. The film focuses on the protagonist İlkyaz's will to solve the problem in a universe where access to water is limited and drought and other environmental problems are intense, and he cannot find the support he seeks from his family, especially from his family and teachers.

Basically an Elseworld

Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı said that the shooting process was very enjoyable for the whole team. Kırbacı described the short film Absolute Zero, which he was the director of, basically as an "elseworld". He stated that they completed the shooting in a very short time, which was related to the fact that everyone in the team knew very well what to do.

We wish success to the film Absolute Zero and the entire film crew on their journey to the festival.
