Organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF), Graphic Design Department, the cartoon exhibition "No to Violence Against Women" was presented to art lovers at Gelişim Art Gallery as part of the 8 March International Women's Day. The curator of the exhibition is Graphic Design Department Dr. Instructor Member Nuri Sezer performed it.
The opening of the exhibition, Istanbul Gelisim University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Nail Öztaş's speech, which draws attention to violence against women and focuses on the healing power of art. After the opening speech, Don Quichotte International Humor Magazine Editor-in-Chief Erdoğan Karayel talked about the importance of women's day and that the exhibition has been curatorially screened many times in this sense. While talking about the history and importance of women's day, Karayel emphasized that this day is essentially celebrated as a day of struggle for rights. Thanking the students who came to watch the exhibition for the intense interest, Karayel reminded the students, whom he sees as adults, that they should be aware of their own rights.
The 12th Don Quichotte International Cartoon Contest, which aims to raise awareness about "Violence Against Women" and to encourage efforts to solve the problem, which is a global crisis, provided a space for expression to 394 cartoonists from 62 countries. Bringing our university together with such a meaningful exhibition, Dr. Instructor We would like to thank its member Nuri Sezer and Mr. Erdoğan Karayel.
As Istanbul Gelisim University Faculty of Fine Arts, we condemn all forms of violence against women and wish a fair world where women's efforts are visible.
