HISTORY

The Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University began its educational activities in 2011 with four undergraduate programs: Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design, Interior Architecture, and Communication Design.

Adopting a contemporary approach to education from its inception, the faculty continues to evolve through its academic structure, which closely follows national and international developments in the fields of art, design, and communication while integrating theoretical knowledge with practical training. The educational programs are continuously updated in line with changing technological and industry needs and are conducted with a focus on developing students’ creative thinking, research, and practical skills.

In the 2015–2016 academic year, with the establishment of the Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Cinema and Television, and Gastronomy and Culinary Arts within the faculty, the number of undergraduate programs reached seven. Thus, the Faculty of Fine Arts has expanded its educational activities while further strengthening its academic diversity in the fields of art and design.

The Department of Graphic Design, one of the faculty’s long-standing departments, has continued its activities since its inception with an educational philosophy that closely follows current developments in the field of visual communication, brings art and technology together, and supports interdisciplinary production. With its faculty of experts in the field and its practice-oriented educational model, the department aims to train students to become graphic designers equipped with the knowledge, skills, and expertise required by the creative industries.

In line with its vision of internationalization, the Faculty of Fine Arts at Istanbul Gelişim University places great importance on providing its students with diverse academic and cultural experiences. In this context, students have the opportunity to study for specific periods at higher education institutions both in Turkey and abroad through existing exchange programs. These programs contribute not only to students’ academic development but also to their exposure to different cultures and the acquisition of international experience.
