We Asked Students: How Was the 2022-2023 Academic Year?

A meeting was held for the department class representatives with the participation of Department Head of Radio, Television and Cinema Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, Deputy Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik and Department Research Assistants Eda Çekemci and Okan Kırbacı. First class representative Ahmet Tevhid Kuzu, second class representative İrem Kaya, third class representative Buse Namlı, fourth class representative Tuğçe Çeşmeci and department representative Hilal Tatar attended the meeting.

How was the 2022-2023 academic year?

Asking the representatives in turn how the school year went in general, Head of Department Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan asked them to answer both individually and taking into account the feedback from the class they represent. The fourth grade representative Tuğçe Çeşmeci started her speech by saying that they received online education due to both the pandemic and the earthquake during their education period, and this of course had negative effects. Stating that they are happy with both the process and the equipment possibilities regarding the graduation projects, Çeşmeci expressed his satisfaction with the event organization of the department. İrem Kaya, the second class representative, suggested that something should be done to increase participation in the events. Thinking about what can be done on this, the faculty members suggested doing activities where they could spend more time with the students. Thus, the faculty members, who could communicate not only with a certain group of students but also with all students, decided to organize activities that would appeal to everyone. Ahmet Tevhid Kuzu, the first class representative, stated that the divisions in the classroom can be prevented in this way, and added that they need to be informed about the equipment. Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan conveyed his request to Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı to organize the equipment orientation, which is organized every year, for both new first and second grade students.

Preparations for the New Term Started

After listening to everyone's opinions, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan talked about the new term plans of the department. Mentioning that the Film Design Club will be established and movie watching days and events will be organized within the club, Doğan also informed the students that a small in-departmental festival will be organized. Adding to his words that the number of trainings and workshops will be increased, Doğan said that an Instagram page of the department will be activated very soon. Stating that the Uşak International Short Film Festival and the International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium will take place in October and December, Doğan added that students will take part in the team of these organizations.
