Undergraduate student–involved research project led by Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay approved!

An undergraduate student–involved research project led by Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay from the Radio, Television and Cinema Department of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), and evaluated within the scope of BAP, has been approved.

The undergraduate student–involved research project titled “Yeşil Perde: Sinema Salonlarında Sürdürülebilirlik ve Geri Dönüşüm Projesi” led by Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay and evaluated within the scope of BAP, has been approved.

The project team includes Asst. Prof. Emre Doğan and Asst. Prof. Rabiya Saltik Duvan from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. As an undergraduate student participant, third-year student Yağmur Alkın is actively involved in the project and undertakes significant responsibilities in key stages of this initiative, which has been developed as a social responsibility project.

The project aims to make sustainability practices in movie theaters more visible and to raise awareness about waste management. Atlas Cinema has been selected as the sample site, where the amount and types of waste generated within the theater will be documented over a one-month period. Based on the data collected, the sources of the most commonly produced waste in movie theaters, their recycling potential, and strategies for waste reduction will be analyzed. Beyond merely calculating waste quantities, the project also seeks to design recycling guidance using a creative approach.

We congratulate Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay and the project team on this achievement.
