The second stage of the project of social responsibility project named "Let's Create Sustainable Sectors" is carried out by Res. Asst. Emel Çirişoğlu, Res. Asst. Ayşe Seray Çetin and Res. Asst. Eda Türkay, research assistants of Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and Department of Radio, Television and Cinema took place.
The second stage of the “Let's Create Sustainable Sectors Social Responsibility Project” of which Res. Asst. Emel Çirişoğlu, Res. Asst. Ayşe Seray Çetin and Res. Asst. Eda Türkay are co-executive, was held under "Sustainability in the Gastronomy Sector". The talk was held on January 5, 2023, at Firnas Auditorium.
Bonna, Turkey's first and only 100% HoReCa (HOtel, REstaurant, CAfe) brand, contribute to the sustainable gastronomy sector with the plates they produce by recycling porcelain waste. Bonna Porcelain; With the goal of sustainability, it adopts a production that respects nature and saves an area the size of 3 football fields from pollution every year. A conversation titled "Sustainability in the Gastronomy Sector" was held with Esra Atagün Karaduman, Marketing Manager of the Bonna brand, which aims to contribute to the field of sustainable gastronomy, and Sena Serra Çakabey, Bonna Product Manager. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Doğan, one of the faculty members of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, moderated the conversation. Gastronomy department students, especially 3rd and 4th-year students taking the GMS351-Food and Sustainability course, showed great interest in the interview.
The conversation started with the presentation of Product Manager Sena Serra Çakabey. Following the presentation of Çakabey, who also emphasized the new trends in the gastronomy sector, Marketing Manager Esra Atagün Karaduman also made her presentation. After the presentations, first the moderator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Doğan and then our students asked questions to the participants. Following the questions of the students who were very interested in the subject, Doğan presented the plaques to the participants.
