Supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema, and Istanbul Gelişim University, the 3rd International Short Film, Video, and Photography Symposium will take place on October 24–25–26, 2025. The event, hosted by the Kadıköy Barış Manço Cultural Center, will bring together artists, academics, and researchers working in the fields of short film, video art, and photography.
On the first day of the symposium, Emre Doğan and Rıfat Özçöllü will deliver the opening speeches. Throughout the day, sessions titled “Sensory and Spatial Narratives,” “The Aesthetic and Political Faces of Animation,” and “Visions in the New World” will offer in-depth discussions on contemporary cinema and video art.
The second day will open with a panel titled “The Gamified Narrative of the Image,” exploring the relationship between gaming and cinema. The day’s schedule will include the screening of the video selection “Invisible Weight,” a guest lecture by Ersan Ocak, and sessions such as “Archive, Reality, and Invisibility” and “Short Film in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” These presentations will delve into topics such as artificial intelligence, documentary production, and digital culture.
Spanning three days, the symposium aims to provide a shared platform for participants from diverse disciplines by merging contemporary artistic production with theoretical discussion. Apart Symposium continues to stand out as a significant meeting point in Türkiye for short film and video art, particularly through its focus on new media, digital aesthetics, and political imagery.
