“Experimental Cinema Offers the Opportunity to Work Enjoyably with a Small Team”

The event, moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan started with the screening of Çağıl Saydam's short films "61 Sokak No:4" and "Her Şey Canımı Sıkıyor". In the conversation that started after the screenings, Çağıl Saydam talked about what experimental cinema means. Talking about both the limits and limitlessness of experimental cinema, Saydam mentioned that the view towards experimental cinema is not developed in Turkey and that there is serious confusion on this issue, especially in festivals. Stating what students interested in experimental cinema can benefit from producing in this field, Saydam talked about his working method. Explaining the shooting processes of his films, Saydam said that he works with very small teams and that his favorite aspect of experimental cinema is that it offers the opportunity to work with small teams with pleasure.

Answering the students' questions, Saydam suggested different methods to students who were confused about writing scripts, especially in the field of experimental cinema.

We would like to thank Çağıl Saydam for sharing his experiences with us.
