Res. Asst. Eda Türkay’s article titled “Inspired by the Theory of Uses and Gratifications: Why Do We Watch Short Films?” from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema academics has been published in the special issue of Art/icle Art and Design Magazine issued for the International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium.

Res. Asst. Eda Türkay aimed to concretize why we watch short films, what kind of satisfaction we get from short films and what kind of relationship we establish through interviews with short film followers in her study based on the theory of uses and gratifications, which is a theory developed within communication studies. Inspired by the theory of uses and gratifications and the fundamental question of the theory, what the audience does with the media, the question of why short film viewers prefer to watch short films was analyzed using the semi-structured in-depth interview method.

We congratulate Res. Asst. Eda Türkay and wish her continued success.
