Organized for the first time in 2000, the twenty-second of the International Izmir Short Film Festival, one of the most important short film festivals in Turkey, took place on November 22-28 this year. The Festival brought together important names of the cinema industry and moviegoers with workshops and interviews with the Film Lab program, which it organized for the first time this year. Within the scope of the Film Lab, supported by the Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Cinema and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, an award-winning project competition was held.

Together with the director of the movie, Ahmet Toğaç, they made a project presentation before the jury. The Empty Stomachs project won the Folkart Film Lab Production Award from the Film Lab project competition and won the first place.

The producer of the film, Eda Çekemci, commented on the festival and the competition:

“It was very valuable for us to take part in the Izmir Short Film Festival with our Empty Stomachs short film project. Film Lab offered a full range of content for both cinema followers and project producers. We were very happy that Empty Stomachs was selected as a finalist among the applications made to the project competition. Together with Ahmet Toğaç, the director of our film, we explained our project in the five minutes given to us in front of the jury and the audience. We enjoyed every moment of the process and finally, we closed the festival happily with our project being selected as the winner. The Film Lab Production Award has been a good support for us, both financially and morally, on the way to realizing our project. We would like to thank the Izmir Short Film Festival for being a nice stop on the journey of our project.”

Congratulations to Res. Asst. Eda Çekemci.
