Production Support for RTS Student Orhan Kerem Kartal’s Project!
Orhan Kerem Kartal, a senior student in the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema (RTC) at Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has been awarded production support by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cinema. Kartal’s short film project, titled "Dostlar Sağolsun" (May the Loved Ones Live), was selected as one of the productions supported under the Ministry’s funding program.
Orhan Kerem Kartal, a student from the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, has secured production support from the General Directorate of Cinema for his short film project, "Dostlar Sağolsun," which he also scripted. The fact that he achieved this prestigious Ministry support with a project developed as his Graduation Project is regarded as a significant accomplishment by the department faculty.
Set in the Karasu district of Sakarya, the film focuses on a young man's internal and social conflicts during a single day as he awaits his grandfather’s funeral. Framed with a minimalist cinematic language, "Dostlar Sağolsun" aims to explore an individual’s loneliness within a traditional social structure, their silent resistance, and the process of maturing while bearing the weight of responsibilities.
