In the panel titled "Is Bakırköy Ready for an Earthquake?" organized by the Istanbul Bakırköy Municipality on the third anniversary of the February 6 Disaster, earthquake awareness and disaster management were discussed with the contributions of academics and scientists. The photography exhibition "February 6: Remnants of That Day," opened as part of the event, featured striking frames captured by Asst. Prof. Kemal Çipe. The exhibition provided visitors with a powerful visual experience by reflecting the impact of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and their traces in the collective social memory.
Among the works showcased in the foyer area visited before the panel, Asst. Prof. Kemal Çipe conveyed the effects of the earthquake on humans and the environment through an artistic lens. The works exhibited in this context vividly revealed themes of post-disaster life and social solidarity.
Furthermore, within the framework of the event program, a tree-planting ceremony was held in memory of the victims of the catastrophe. This meaningful practice stood out as a symbolic step aimed at embodying disaster awareness and contributing to nature. With the participation of Asst. Prof. Kemal Çipe in this planting event, both the support for natural life and respect for the earthquake region were reinforced.
Through activities such as the exhibition and tree planting, the panel was not limited to scientific evaluations but also gained a profound emotional and social dimension. The contributions of Asst. Prof. Kemal Çipe emphasized the importance of social solidarity while keeping the memory of the disaster alive.
