Our graduate student’s short film became a finalist at the Niğde National Short Film Festival!

“Invitation of Inspiration” (İlhamın Daveti), a short film directed by Mustafa Uyduran, a graduate of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, became a finalist in the “Best Student Film” category at the 5th Niğde National Short Film Festival.

Produced as a graduation project, “Invitation of Inspiration” was selected among the finalist productions in the student film category with its creative engagement with art history, visual atmosphere, and distinctive narrative structure. The Niğde National Short Film Festival, held for the fifth time, brings together short film creators and cinema enthusiasts while aiming to increase the visibility of works by young filmmakers.

A Story Shaped Around Art Inspiration and Legend

“Invitation of Inspiration” tells the story of a painter searching for inspiration and finding himself drawn into an unreal and magnificent ball. In the film, Edvard Munch becomes part of an extraordinary encounter after receiving an invitation to the ball while searching for artistic inspiration.
At the ball, Munch meets Vincent van Gogh. Munch’s dark and melancholic tones contrast with Van Gogh’s colorful and energetic brushstrokes. The differences and common points between the artistic approaches of the two painters lay the groundwork for the emergence of a new legend within the film’s fictional world.

Festival Achievement with a Graduation Project

Prepared as a graduation project in the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, the short film explores the artist’s search for inspiration and the creative process within a dreamlike atmosphere. By bringing two significant figures from art history together in the same narrative universe, “Invitation of Inspiration” offers viewers both a visual and intellectual encounter.

We congratulate our graduate Mustafa Uyduran and are proud to see the productions of our students and graduates gain visibility on national platforms.
