A Taxonomy Essay
"When we look at the various definitions/evaluations made about Stanley Kubrick's cinema and Kubrick's 'artist personality' or think about the definition/evaluation attempts that can be made, a few common points are identified - at least at first glance. These are that Kubrick's films are speculative, even provocative, that in addition to their genre and content diversity, they are formally bound to their own rules to the point of idefix disease, and that, in general, Kubrick is a perfectionist artist.” Making an introduction as follows, Doğan promises a comprehensive analysis and interpretation of Kubrick's cinema. Creating a distinction on the hierarchy of knowing and believing and categorizing Kubrick's films as films of knowing and films of believing, Doğan examined the filmography consisting of thirteen features.
We congratulate Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan for his comprehensive work and wish him continued success.
