Ministry Support for the 3rd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium!

The 3rd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium organized by Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), Department of Radio Television and Cinema was supported by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The 3rd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium organized in cooperation with Istanbul Gelisim University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Radio Television and Cinema and one of the external stakeholders of the department, Apart Art Association, was supported by the General Directorate of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The interest of academics, artists and art lovers in more ‘alternative’ production forms, where short film, video and photography are at the center, is increasing exponentially every year. These production methods are rare areas where the standardizing conditions of the industry are less felt, where they can offer significant opportunities in the context of speculative creation, and where pure perception is possible. The International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium also acts with this basic motivation. The symposium, which stands against negativities such as plagiarism, theft of labor and looting, which manifest themselves in almost every area of life and hinder basic creative attitudes such as thinking, getting inspired and producing, invites everyone to produce and share liberating, creative and unifying ideas, interpretations and criticisms.

Symposium Call to be Announced Very Soon

Asst. Prof. Emre Doğan and Res. Asst. Eda Türkay from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema are on the symposium organizing committee and continue their work on this year's symposium. The symposium sets out with a new perspective every year. This year's call text for the symposium, which evaluates this perspective as an emphasis rather than a theme, will be published very soon.

The symposium aims to produce thoughts, comments and criticism through short films, videos and photographs. Other topics determined by the symposium as subjects in addition to these areas are as follows:
Video-Art
New Media
Digital Game
Animation
Documentary
VR
New Media Documentary
Non Narrative Film
Medium-Length
Experimental Films

You can follow the official Instagram pages of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema for announcements and developments regarding the symposium, which will soon start accepting abstracts.
