The Green Film School Alliance stands out as an international organization that brings film schools together around sustainable production practices, promoting a cinema education approach with high environmental awareness. The GFSA network aims to reduce the carbon footprint at all stages of film production, ensure the efficient use of resources, and address environmental responsibility alongside creative processes.
Through this collaboration, students of the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema at IGU will have the opportunity to receive training based on internationally recognized principles and practices regarding sustainable filmmaking. Topics such as eco-friendly production techniques, sustainable storytelling, and green set practices are expected to gain prominence within the curriculum. This step is regarded as one of the most important examples in Turkey of a new educational approach that prioritizes environmental responsibility in the fields of cinema and television.
Under the leadership of Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay from the department’s faculty, and with the participation of students Deniz Ağgül and Eylül Üçtaş, regular reporting will be conducted as part of the cooperation. Sustainable projects developed throughout the semester will be shared with the GFSA network to ensure the continuity of the partnership.
With this collaboration, the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema aims to increase its efforts toward sustainability-based art and media education, training its students to become the environmentally conscious creative professionals of the future.
