 How did the Radio, Television and Cinema Department spend the 22-23 Fall Semester?


Department head Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan and vice president Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik evaluated the 2022-2023 academic year fall semester of Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FAF), Radio, Television and Cinema Department. Doğan and Saltik also shared the department's expectations and goals for the spring term.


The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema started the 2022-2023 academic year by switching to face-to-face education after the pandemic period that lasted for two years. The fact that the lessons can be held in the campus environment with the students, especially the practical lessons can be taught in suitable environments such as studios and laboratories increased the quality of education.

Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, in the fall semester of the 2022-2023 academic year had a productive period with the films shot, the lectures offered, the organizations organized and contributed. Head of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, stated that they had a very good performance in the fall semester and that as a department, they aim to display a better performance for each new term compared to the previous term.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik, vice-chairman of the department, emphasized that both academicians and students of the department achieved many successes in the fall semester. Stating that they regularly organize hands-on workshops and cinema days in the pocket cinema for students, Saltik stated that they have implemented two social responsibility projects as a department and that they have completed each activity and project with a happy ending.

With the decision taken at the beginning of the fall semester in the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, a team was formed to support the sending processes of the short film projects prepared by the students as part of the course to the festivals. Thanks to the interest of this team and students, many projects won selections and awards at festivals.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Rabiya Saltik, the vice-chairman of the department, stated that the department will try to take concrete steps as much as possible in order to train the students as qualified people in the sector in the spring term.

Head of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Doğan, stated that the 2022-2023 academic year spring term, which will be carried out in the form of distance education, as in the pandemic period, should have a stimulating effect, not a daunting one. Describing the field of Radio, Television and Cinema as a very productive field in transforming physical crises into mental advantages, Doğan added that they will continue to produce meaning and aesthetics in front of computers by doing what is necessary, and that he hopes the spring semester will be more productive and more effective than the fall semester.
