Harvest Time Short Film Festival Workshops Held!

The workshops planned for the finalists of the 2nd Harvest Time Short Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Gelisim University (IGU) Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA) Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, have been completed.

The 2nd Harvest Time Short Film Festival, organized by the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema and the Film Design Club, with the support of the department’s external stakeholder Cheyni, was held on June 11 at the Mehmet Akif Ersoy Conference Hall. The festival featured two separate categories, in which high school films and films by IGU students competed. In his opening speech at the festival, the Chair of the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, Asst. Prof. Emre Doğan, announced that workshops would be organized during the summer for the finalist students to develop new projects.

The first day of the three-day workshop, held in August, began with Asst. Prof. Emre Doğan welcoming the students and explaining the workshop program. Following this, department faculty member Res. Asst. Dr. Eda Türkay conducted the “Creativity and Story Writing” workshop, in which students participated in story-writing exercises. Next, Asst. Prof. Rabiya Saltik Duvan delivered her “Production Processes” workshop, discussing the stages of filmmaking. On the second and third days of the workshop, Asst. Prof. Emre Doğan and Res. Asst. Okan Kırbacı conducted workshops on “Screenwriting,” “Equipment Knowledge,” “Cinema and Philosophy,” and “Digital Editing Applications.”

High school students participated in the workshops, giving them the opportunity to meet the faculty members, tour the university campus, and receive information about the university, faculty, and department. The Harvest Time Short Film Festival Workshops concluded after three days.

Certificates of participation were presented to the attending students. We would like to thank the finalist students for their interest in the workshops.
