The full-text papers of the 2nd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium, organized by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), and supported by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema, have been published as a Special Issue of the Art/içle: Journal of Art & Design.

The ART/icle: Art & Design Journal, published by Istanbul Gelişim University (IGU), Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA), has released the 5th volume, 2nd issue (2025) as a special issue dedicated to the 2nd International Short Film, Video and Photography Symposium. The special issue includes the following academic articles:

“What Women Photographers Saw in the Golden Age of Documentary Photography in the Context of Feminist Criticism” (Serenay Anık Gök) — pp. 249–264

“Breaking the Boundaries of Virtual Reality Narrative: Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality Collaboration” (Servet Can Dönmez) — pp. 266–292

“Grief in Video Games: Understanding Loss and Mourning with Narrative Design” (Özgür Kalender) — pp. 293–314

These three studies present an interdisciplinary framework focusing on contemporary tendencies in art and design disciplines — including feminist theory, AI × new media collaborations, and narrative design in video games. Bringing together fields such as short film, video art, photography, digital culture, new media, cinema aesthetics, and visual storytelling, this special issue contributes to the visibility and academic recognition of current research in cinema and visual arts. Publishing symposium proceedings in an academic journal not only supports scholarly dissemination but also enhances the impact of artistic research within international academic circles.
